August 2008 Archives

Check out the movies slated for 4 or 5 years from now.  As you can see I already checked out Cars 2.  Usually the site doesn't list any further details about these movies.  In fact many of them don't ever get made - they get killed in development.  But it's still interesting to see what the studios have in their plans.  Venom?  Really?  Not Spiderman 5?

Try it out...

And the sneak peak at the one movie slated so far for 2013?  No problem.

I started reading this before I heard about the movie but didn't finish is for one reason or another.  After I heard about the movie coming out next year, I decided to reread it.

It's something else entirely.  It's also the first graphic novel I've read (next in line is some crazy book by some unknown dude named Frank Miller).

But I like it.  I think.  Maybe I just appreciate it and enjoy the appreciation.  Or maybe that's what enjoyment is.

Mostly a repost of what I put on the band's posterous (thedeadprophets.posterous.com).  Actually, exactly a repost.  Except for this preamble.  This is new content.  Brand, brand, new.

PROBABLY FINE

Someone will die today
maybe you know his name
maybe he went to your school
It won't be an accident
He couldn't pay the rent
and wouldn 't live life as the fool
nothing is good when every thing's wrong
the world keeps on turning and we all walk along
he can scream he can cry just to pass away time
he's probably fine

after the hurricane,
earthquakes and airplanes,
turned all our plans to the dust
cheap sermons, broken prayers
lost friends, and empty chairs
thank god it's in him we trust
turn to the heavens and pray to the lord
he's promised eternity as your reward
reach out your hands from the back of the line
you're probably fine

standing out on the bridge
looking out from the ledge
the wind and the air in my face
god has forgiven me
i pray that's what i believe
step off and fall out of grace
mary and joseph and jesus and i
ate from the tree that would make us all die
i walked on the water but drank too much wine
I'm probably fine

Sheyna, my beautiful wife, joined us for this recording.  She made this song everything it is.  Isaiah laid down the guitar, Jeremiah dug deep and found the lyrics somewhere in the darkness.

With respect to the third member of the band.

Warner Music Group Corp, the world's third-largest music company, said on Thursday that video game makers will need to pay more to license songs for music-based video games like "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band." - http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080807/music_nm/warnermusic_videogames_dc

A fundamentalist church group from the U.S. has announced it plans to picket the funeral of Tim McLean Jr. in Winnipeg, declaring, "God is punishing Canada."

Led by pastor Fred Phelps, the Westboro Baptist Church from Kansas issued a release saying they would picket McLean's funeral this weekend.

Phelps' daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, said about seven church members are expected to come to Winnipeg. "What we're doing is trying to connect dots," Phelps-Roper told the Winnipeg Sun last night. "We're trying to get you to see that your rebellion against the standards of God, your disobedience to the commandments -- your idols, your false gods, your filthy ways have brought wrath upon your head."

Is it okay to feel hatred toward people like this?

(Oh, and the url for the church in question, in case you're interested is godhatesfags [dot] com.  Wow, feel the love.)
